This original konpeito candy is made with traditional konpeito candy, a tradition that has been made in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka for over 80 years, sprinkled generously with Uji matcha “Okumidori.”
~What is konpeito?~
This traditional candy is made by gradually adding sugar syrup to a sugar core in a kiln, crystallizing it.
It takes artisanal skill and time to create it, including its unique angular shape.
Konpeito candy is considered a lucky charm, and its long growing process has led to its association with “marital harmony” and “prosperous descendants.” It also represents “good health” as demons dislike the horns on its surface.
